 The most important function of the modern organization- that of managing it’s people effectively, is also one of the most complex ones, with several key responsibilities and functions comprising several other, smaller responsibilities and sub- functions- all being built with or on each other to create the entire organizational structure that will drive the business towards the vision, goal, profitability and growth.

What responsibilities and functions are we talking here? Here’s a brief of just some of the functions that a human resources department must perform in their day to day operations:

Accurate Job Posting- Based on the requirements of skill and experience for a new hire, the HR leader consults with the department heads and line managers to frame a job description. This is then posted in various newspapers, online job boards and other such places.
Shortlisting candidates- Once the relevant candidates with the right skills respond to the job postings, the HR professional then selects the most suitable applicants and filters out the rest. This process, called screening and selection is essential to maintain a high quality talent pool in the organization.

Scheduling interviews- interview scheduling is the next obvious step in the entire HR management process. As and when the right talent is shortlisted, their interviews are scheduled in line with the managers or the senior management of the organization, depending on the level at which the candidate is being hired. This is especially important in case of senior level candidates, for whom an interview may hamper their schedule and may not be immediately convenient.
