Honda Dio Specifications - Check out Each of its Parts

Honda is one of the most trusted automobile brands in the Indian automatic scooter market. One of the biggest reasons for holding such a dominant position in the market is the presence of the Honda Dio scooter range. Let’s take a good look at the Honda Dio Specifications.

Design and Style

The Honda Dio is designed in a more flamboyant way in comparison to the other scooters in the price range. Honda has replaced the heavy steel form they have used in Activa for a sleeker plastic body in the Dio. A brand new unit on the front side now incorporates headlights and indicators while the front fender is also reshaped to give a sleeker look. The rear end is also given a complete overhaul with the large tail-light and grab rail gone under heavy changes. Measuring around 110kg mark, Dio is made out of right under-bone chassis with an excellent build quality.

Instrument Console

Honda has also updated the Instrument console panel for the Dio to keep up to date with the revamped designed. However, still the instrument console is completely analogue.

Engine and Gearbox

Honda has increased the engine capacity for Dio from 102cc to 109cc. The engine retains its core specifications of a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled OHC engine with a V-matic transmission. The maximum power attained is 8 BHP at 7500 rpm with torque of 8.74 Nm at 5500 rpm. The scooter is able to reach a top speed of 78kmph with the fuel tank capacity of 6 liters and an average mileage of 40-45kmpl.

Tires, Suspension and Brakes

The biggest disappointed about the new Honda Dio is the lack of front telescopic fork suspension. Instead, it only features air-spring hydraulic suspensions on both the sides. Also, the Dio features 130mm drum brakes on both the ends with combi-brake system (CBS) also included improving stability. The Dio is well equipped with 90/100-10 wheels which is similar to the one used in Activa and haven’t been upgraded yet.

Ride and Handling

The scooter proves the fact that even a slight change in the engine can lead to an improved performance. Handling through the city traffic is quick and clean due to the smaller and lighter frame in comparison to the Activa and Aviator. The scooter feels smoot and quiet to ride on backed by a stable and balanced body.

Other Features

Unlike the other Honda models, Dio is only available in a single variant. The bike takes extra effort to enhance rider safety and comfort by featuring foot-pegs for the people. Honda Dio has a 20-Liter capacity but only provides 18-liters for the boot storage which makes it slightly difficult to place your helmet in the boot storage area of the scooter.
Another slight area of problem for the riders would be the forward sloping floorboard on the Dio. While travelling above 20-30kmph, it would negatively impact the ergonomics for drivers above a certain height.
Also, you would be getting very few added accessories with the scooter. You would probably have to shelve out a little for additional accessories.

The Last Words

The Honda Dio is available for the customers to in four vibrant colors of Sports Red, Candy Palm Green, Black and Candy Jazzy Blue. It is one of the best looking scooters you will currently find in the market with a number of comfort and safety features. However, despite a complete overhaul of the scooter, the Dio 110 still feels same as before in comparison with the other scooters with similar Honda Dio Specifications in the same price range.
